-
Imagebay - A great site with an Ajax interface. It performs really well.
-
IMGSRC - An extremely fast and efficient website built exclusively in PHP. Offers everything you need.
-
Imageshack - A slow photo hosting website, but it offers a lot of good programming. They have a torrent service, video uploading, and several cool tools you can download.
-
Photobucket - A great site for photographers which offers great photo management.
-
Flickr - Also a great site for photographers with the added incentive of showing up in Yahoo image searches more often then others.
Some websites perform much better then others. Some websites, like
Imageshack, offer a lot of different tools that you can use. I prefer websites that are simple to use, and perform fast. I can't stand using a website that 'hangs' and runs too slow. I think most people feel the same way. Ever since IMGSRC was built a month ago, I've been using it. I love the way the site runs. It still isn't finished, but the overall user registration, and photo hosting is there and it is very powerful. You won't find a faster and more efficient website.
I've used other websites like Flickr, and Photobucket in the past. I really hate Flickr because of many different reasons, but it isn't that bad of an image upload site. It has some kindof gimmick that makes it impossible to download pictures from their site which is really annoying. I find it to be extremely not cool because I like people who choose to share their stuff online, and give out open-source material. Yahoo, who created Flickr, doesn't do that. Google, on the other hand, is wonderful for this. That's why Google is so many more times successful then Yahoo. They've embraced the open-source market whereas Yahoo is still fighting it. Photobucket is a great site, and I know it's extremely popular.

I prefer IMGSRC, and Imagebay over all the other photo hosting websites that I listed. They're greatly programmed websites that are very simple and easy to use. The other websites are just too much that you don't need. I'm like most major techies that prefer simple and ease. I'm a developer, and I'll be first to tell you that complicated = bad. The goal for any developer should always be to make something AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. I hate going to a website and finding out that it's too complicated to find anything that you need. I want to use something that is straightforward, but also has some great features if you look a little bit underneath the surface. I think IMGSRC is going to be built like that, and I'm looking forward to it. I remember saying the same thing when I discovered Google the first time back when it was just a little baby.
I definitely listed the best photo hosting websites, and there aren't any that are more popular. I've given you the best that I know of. I think most people would agree with this list.
